Tsunami AppealWE’VE ADOPTED A VILLAGE See how our Food Distribution went! Many villages in India were destroyed by the Tsunami. Lives were lost, huts collapsed from the force of the water, fishing nets were torn apart and boats smashed. KidzAssist Inc. is committed to restoring the wellbeing and livelihoods of villagers through an “Adopt a Village” plan. Sarangapalam is our adopted village, it's a small fishing village of 100 families on the coast of Andhra Pradesh, they rely solely on fishing for the village income. Due to the loss of their fishing boats and nets they have not had income for nearly 4 weeks now, this means that they have had very little to eat, just a small amount of rice that a local church was able to give them. We went to Sarangapalam on Saturday 29 January to distribute rice, dahl and oil to provide food until they can return to the seas. We've written an account of our experiences, click here to read it.
It is our hope to restore Sarangapalam to its previous condition, as a
self sustained fishing village. Sarangapalam is on the east coast of India approx. 400km north of Madras/Chennai. The Dec 26 2004 Tsunami has left this village without even a single boat or net that is seaworthy. Kidz Assist Inc. is founded by an Australian expat family living in India and does not charge administration fees. Every cent donated to our charity is passed on to the villages. Cash donations can be made by either credit card using the Paymate system or deposit to our bank account, details are below. Bank Account Details Account
